Things that rock...

Happy freakin birthday to ME!! BBE got me the coolest stuff for my grand ole 34th.

Some books...

Yesh! My fave from the paper...

Can you believe I didn't have it yet?? Neither could BBE!

Some tunes...

I love me some chill & lounge!

BUT THE BEST... was my sweet, sweet new shuffle.

See, I LOVE my iPod. It has 80G of space and currently has almost 8,000 songs on it. Also, it is kind of bulky. I have had some near-disasters when clipping it to my running shorts, on accounta how it is a bit heavy. Ifyouknowwhatimean. Andithinkyoudo.

So my Best Boyfriend EVER got me a sassy lil number in my favorite color of late, orange, that holds just enough music to keep me running or walking or whatever, for a couple weeks without having to swap for new songs.

How great is he??

AM Rehearsal

In honor of my new lil shuffle, here's another iPod meme...

Here's how you do it, you shuffle your tracks and write the first line of each of the first 20 songs. If anyone can get them all (you are on your honor to not Google) I will send you a groovy prize of some sort. Heck, I'll even say if anyone can get 12 or more of them... (I did have to cheat a little 'cause I have a lot of world music in languages I can't understand, and I hadda skip those.)

1. Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
2. Bre-e-e-athe
3. Some store, I'm not going back there anymore
4. In pitch dark I go walking in your landscape
5. They found Mary Bellows cuffed to the bed
6. My gal is red hot
7. Well they call me Hanging Johnny
8. Well nobody wants to burn in hell, but everybody's got a soul to sell
9. You fill up my senses like a night in the forest
10. Well ask if we can have 6 in, if not we'll have to have 2
11. Pain is good, it's all I know
12. No petrol in the car, no pennies in the jar
13. The horizon breaks to pieces
14. This is the story of a famous dog (for the dog that chases it's tail will be busy)
15. Freezing, rests his head on a pillow made of concrete
16. What do you feel when you look into my eyes, baby?
17. The sirens are screaming and the fires are howling
18. Following the silent hedges, needing some other kind of madness
19. Oh so all my lovin' goes
20. I've heard the sound of my dear old Mama cryin'

I feel pretty safe on this one, I gotta tell ya.

Ice, Ice Baby (now with even MORE pictures)

This post is brought to you by a high pressure system of cold air and precipitation, and a severe case of cabin fever. I have been in a hotel room for most of two days now... Here's how I got here.

Last Sunday, I headed north for work... While on the plane, I finished up some socks for my Valentine:

socks for bbe

And as soon as I got to my hotel, I finished up a hat for Valentine's Dad:

finished hat

The next night, the snow started:

In the snow
I didn't make the hat, it was a gift

And later that evening I met up with one of the stylish and talented locals:

color coordination
The locals really know how to coordinate

We had some tasty sushi and fried ice cream. The snow continued, and the fancy local and I met up the next night for a carb fest of noodles:

pasta party

And the next morning... this morning, the airports were closed, my flight was rescheduled. And I started some new wristers:

The holiday inspired the cable pattern, if they rock I will post the finished pattern

Today, I have been working off a laptop and a cellphone. I am stir crazy. My hotel has no workout facility so I am completely keyed up. Hopefully my flight will take off tomorrow and I can see my cats and my BBE soon.

Blame it on the rain

... That turned into ice,
... That kept me home,
... That gave me time: To block (AND blog, twice in one day)...

Like a stuck pig, as the saying goes

Mom's scarf, in soggy repose

ALSO. Have you heard about all this cloning business? The gist is that the FDA has found no discernible difference between cloned animal products and non-cloned animal products (this includes meat and by products like milk or cheese). This means that, like genetically modified products, no labelling requirements will be made, thereby taking away the consumer's right to choose between natural and cloned food. EEK!

I will leave the decision to act or not act up to you, but I am curious about this, and am hoping to start a discussion...

  • Would you want to knit with wool from a cloned sheep or goat? Would you want to know if you were?

  • Chances are that some of the newer vegetable fibers are from genetically modified plants, does that bother you?

One gift of note

(Though there were many fabulous ones: the sweet flash for my digi cam from mom and the turntable [WOO-fuckin-HOOOO!!] from BBE, to name but a couple.)

This is my new kickass knitting bag.

I got it today with a gift certificate that BBE's folks got me to *MY* LYS. How sweet is that? They live in New Jersey! And just guessed!

In the crappy ole ziploc (the old knitting bag) are two projects currently on the needles. They are sort of secret for now. In front is a sad summery UFO. More on those later...

In the meantime, here's what I am listening to:

In preparation for this. If you're in town... come on out on Thursday night and rock it like a virgin.

Also, Austin knitters? Where do y'all meet up these days, and when? I need to get back in the saddle...
